Sung of by poets since ancient times, the Turab al-Bidan or “Land of the White Men”, is the origin of what is today Western Sahara and Mauritania.
The inhabitants of these hamada, descendents of the legendary Almorabid warriors, still today lead their herds of dromedaries across vast extensions of the Sahara desert, in search of the water wells.
This nomadic style of life, of which the ancient and mysterious caravan cities were witness, produced its own particular customs, folklore and culture.
They are the last “Children of the Cloud”.
